Caching is great.  Biking is great.  National Bike Month is a great opportunity to combine two fantastic forms of exercise and fun! 

May is National Bike Month, an effort sponsored by the League of American Bicyclists.  The League was actually founded in 1880 for "wheelmen" (the old-timey way to say cyclists) in an effort to improve riding conditions in a time of horse and wagon traffic on what were really pretty awful road conditions.  More than 100,000 wheelmen signed on to the effort and began to advocate for paved roads and would ultimately spearhead the effort that would evolve to become the National Highway System.  So the next time you're driving down the road and you notice a cyclist, just remember they're a big reason you get to drive on beautiful blacktop! 

May is also a prime start time to the caching season so why not combine them?  You can get things rolling in your community with a Caching & Biking event.  The League has step-by-step guides to help you create a successful Bike Month Event and of course we know Geocaching.com has great guides on hosting your own event.  Two great things that go great together!  You can find more info at https://bikeleague.org/BikeMonthGuide  and https://www.geocaching.com/calendar/guide.aspx .  And if you're looking for trails to ride there are great resources out there like https://www.adventurecycling.org/routes-and-maps/us-bicycle-route-system/
